GSMUN XXVI successfully raised $12k for charity

Congratulations to GSMUN XXVI for raising over $12,000 for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS).

This past weekend, GSMUN XXVI hosted more than 35 schools and some 400 delegates. School delegations traveled from as far away as Maryland to participate. The keynote speaker, Press Team Lead Katy Bondy of the State Department Office of International Organization Affairs, gave a highly relevant and well-received speech. She recalled how participating in Model UN led her to pursue a career in government, discussed her Foreign Service experiences in Brussels and Sri Lanka, and inspired her audience to apply their diplomatic skills to solve the host of problems affecting today’s world.

Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School extends many thanks to the Secretariat team—Secretary-General Rohini Mudinur, Director-General Devesh Kumar, Chargé d’Affaires Sania Jain, Undersecretary-General for External Communications Aashka Shah, Undersecretary-General for Logistics Nate Stewart, Undersecretary-General for Crisis Simulations Parth Tornekar, Director of Charitable Giving Sophia Pareti, Director of General Assemblies Keira Kinnier, Director of Specialized Agencies Sonia Chornodolsky, Director of Press and Publications Sriyutha Morishetty, and Director of Technology Shorya Malani—to the committee staff of over 100 students, and to the countless volunteers who all contributed their valuable time and efforts to a successful conference.

GSMUN’s faculty sponsors were Davide D’Urbino and Kyle Rogers.
