MLWGS with one State Champion at 2A Wrestling

The MLWGS wrestling team had a great season and finished 10th in the State last weekend with Cole Cummins (’19-Chesterfield) finishing 2nd and RJ May (’22-Powhatan) taking first as State Champion. Congratulations! The team is coached by Don Blanton.

For the first time in MW basketball, the girl’s team is seeded #1 at Regionals.  Excellent season Dragons! The boys’ team just came off of a big win over Nottoway with Austin Wade (’19-Chesterfield) scoring 33 points.

The Indoor Track teams are headed to the VHSL 2A State Championships. Update: due to weather the meet will be contested over the course of two days, Monday, February 25 and Tuesday, February 26, at Roanoke College. 


Modified Even/Odd Schedule for Snow Recovery Time Begins February 25

Beginning on Monday 2/25 and ending on Thursday 3/15 all classes Mon-Thurs will be extended 5 min in length for purposes of recovering time from excess inclement weather.  As a result, lunch will be reduced by 20 minutes.  This will get us back in alignment barring any further weather events. Art 1 students visit the VMFA Congo Mask exhibition

Art 1 students took a tour on Thursday, February 14th of the Congo Mask exhibition at the VMFA.  This is a part of their study of African art and culture in sync with the Global Studies cycle as well as their own unit on sculpture.  The students were accompanied by teacher Jeff Hall.

Congratulations – 2019 State 2A Diving Champion!

Anna Jepson (’20-Chesterfield) won the 2A State Diving title today in the Women’s 1-Meter competition!  She finished with a score of 449.50, setting a new VHSL Class 2 record.
