Two MLWGS photography seniors win national recognition in 2024 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards

National Scholastic Winner

Lina Khatcheressian ‘24-Chesterfield received national gold in the 2024 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards annual competition that attracted more than 340,000 submissions from around the nation. Lina was recognized for her multiple-exposure print, “Kristen and Birds.”

Lucie Bouton ’24-Richmond, received a silver medal award at nationals for her photogram, “Blurry Vision”.

Both artists received Gold Keys in the regional competition and were eligible for national exhibitions, publication and scholarship opportunities.  We send our congratulations to these two seniors for their mastery of photography awards at all levels!

The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, the nonprofit organization that presents the Scholastic Awards, has recognized young artists since 1923. Works are evaluated on the basis of originality, skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision. 

Photography is taught at Maggie Walker Governor’s School by Ms. Georgianne Stinnett.
