Food Service at MLWGS
Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School is committed to ensuring that all students have access to nutritious meals during the school day. Families who may need financial assistance with breakfast or lunch are encouraged to complete the Meal Credit and Financial Assistance Request.
MLWGS determines eligibility using self-reported information and the federal income eligibility guidelines for school meals. A student does not automatically qualify for meal assistance because their home school or school division participates in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). No income or other supporting documentation is required to apply. For students who qualify, their home school division provides the financial support for eligible meal assistance at MLWGS.
The Dragon Nation is excited to welcome Omo & Co. to Maggie Walker! Beginning September 28, Omo will serve breakfast and lunch in our cafeteria, focusing on fresh, varied, and nutritious meals with plenty of choices for our students. Each day will feature a selection of entrées and sides, allowing our Dragons to try something new or stick with a favorite. Both meals will be available for purchase directly in the cafeteria using our new Square point-of-sale system with no pre-ordering or app required. Meal support status for students will transfer automatically, but please be patient during the first 1-2 weeks.
We’re especially excited to partner with Omo to meet the unique needs of our Maggie Walker community. Their team has been working closely with us to create a breakfast and lunch program that is convenient, welcoming, and gives our students more variety. We hope our Dragons will stop by, check out the daily offerings, and give Omo a try!
