MLWGS Executive School Board Meeting on Thursday, June 15 @ 9:00 am

The Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School Executive Board meeting will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at 9:00 am.  Location: Room 153 (Adjunct Classroom).  The Executive Board is comprised of members from Petersburg, Goochland, Henrico, King and Queen, and New Kent.

In June the executive board will be presented with consent items that include the school’s monthly personnel and financial reports. The approval item is the annual year-end accounting provision known as GASB 54. Under GASB 54, assigned fund balances represent amounts intended to be used for a specific purpose.

Items presented for board information include the annual field trip report for AY23, a notice of the AY23 wellness report deferred until August, the MLWGS Foundation AY24 Enhancement Grant to the school, and the year-end report from the School Advisory Council that summarizes their work with Ed Coleman, SAC member.

Under the review section of the agenda, the board will review annual authorization of DOE signatures, certification of the school’s crisis manual, the AY24 student handbook, and anticipated health and dental rates related to employee benefits.

The June meeting packet can be viewed here.

Persons unable to attend in person but wanting to address the Executive School Board during the public comment period are invited to use this form to submit their comments by 10:00 am, Wednesday, June 14, 2023, or email their remarks to the Board Clerk.
