Executive Director’s Message: Welcome Dragons to the 2025-2026 Academic Year at MLWGS

Dear Students,

It is an absolute joy to welcome you to the 2025–2026 school year at Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School. Whether you’re stepping onto campus for the first time or returning with familiar confidence, I hope you feel the energy of a community that believes in you and celebrates your growth.

MLWGS is a remarkable place—not just because of the impressive achievements we see year after year, but because of the heart behind them. You are part of a student body that continues to set the bar higher through creativity, dedication, and a spirit of collaboration that embodies The Walker Way. Our faculty and staff are proud to be part of your journey, cheering you on as you push boundaries, ask bold questions, and make meaningful connections.

This year promises to be exciting, challenging, and incredibly rewarding. We’ll face it together—with compassion, courage, and a deep commitment to learning. Your story is still being written, and we’re honored to be a part of it.

On Monday, August 18th, Dr. Williams, Dr. Smith, and I will be at the bus loop, ready to greet you with pride and enthusiasm as the journey begins.

Go Dragons!

Warmly,
Kristin K. Janssen
Executive Director
