MLWGS Executive School Board Meeting on Thursday, May 18 @ 9:00 am

The Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School Executive Board meeting will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at 9:00 am.  Location: Room 153 (Adjunct Classroom).  The Executive Board is comprised of the board members from Petersburg, Goochland, Henrico, King and Queen, and New Kent.

In May the executive board will recognize the Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School National Champions ‘We the People’ team and their teacher Sam Ulmschneider, RTD Boys Scholar-Athlete of the Month Grayson Ramsey, a senior who had work selected for a juried competition in Nova Scotia this summer, and a freshman who won a summer scholarship for travel and study to Germany.

Consent items include the school’s monthly personnel and financial reports. Approval items include the authorization of the 2023-24 MLWGS Foundation slate of officers as required by policy, AY24 textbook adoption, and a special election for a deputy school board clerk for the remainder of 2023.

Under the review section of the agenda, the board will review its strategic plan update followed by consideration for the annual year-end accounting provision known as GASB 54. Under GASB 54, assigned fund balances represent amounts intended to be used for a specific purpose.

The May meeting packet can be viewed here.

Persons unable to attend in person but wanting to address the Regional School Board during the public comment period are invited to use this form to submit their comments by 10:00 am, Wednesday, May 17, 2023, or email their remarks to the Board Clerk.
