School Board 2025

During its meeting on January 16, 2025, the Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School Regional Board (RSB) elected Dr. James Taylor as chair for 2025. Taylor has been a member of the RSB since 2024 and taken the year to observe and understand how the regional board and this school operate. He represents the Powhatan School Board.

“I am honored and humbled to have been elected as the chairman of the regional school board,” said Dr. Taylor.  “I look forward to working collaboratively with fellow board members, superintendents, administrators, and the MLWGS community to continue fostering a positive and supportive environment for our students, ensuring their success and growth.  Together, we can build on our achievements and tackle the challenges ahead with dedication and vision.”

Ms. Heather Donbrosky of New Kent was re-elected as board Vice-Chair. “I have so enjoyed serving on the Maggie Walker Governor’s School Regional Board this last year,” said Ms. Donbrosky.  ‘I feel incredibly honored to have the chance to serve as the Regional Board’s Vice-Chair for 2025. This is a fantastic school and I cherish the opportunity to be involved and engaged in doing whatever I can to support these students in their educational endeavors.”

In addition to the chair and vice-chair, the 2025 board will be comprised of the following members from their participating divisions: Marchelle Hampton from Charles City, Lisa Hudgins from Chesterfield, Debbie Walwer from Colonial Heights, Mary Benjamin from Dinwiddie, Meredith Moses from Goochland, Bob May from Hanover, Alicia Atkins from Henrico, Linda Hyslop from Hopewell,  Harwood Hall from King & Queen, Kenneth Pritchett from Petersburg, Jill Andrews from Prince George, and Kathryn Ricard from Richmond.

Executive Board members for 2025 consist of Taylor, Donbrosky, Pritchett, Hall, and Moses.

The RSB also set its 2025 meeting schedule. Meetings will generally be held on the third Thursday of each month at 9:00 am, except for July, November, and December. The approved meeting dates can be viewed here.
