The Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School Regional Board meeting will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at 9:00 am. Location: MLWGS, Room 153.
At this meeting, the board will welcome the new board member from Hanover, Mr. Robert May. They will also welcome Dr. Beth Tiegen, Powhatan, and Dr. Julius Hamlin, Petersburg, to the superintendent’s steering committee and be introduced to promoted faculty and new staff. They will review the schools’ current financial reports and personnel changes, review and consent to an inventory of obsolete equipment for disposal, and review the strategic plan status. Business to be conducted include annual actions to approve DOE authorization of signatures for MLWGS, certification of the school’s crisis manual, and the 2022-2023 student handbook. Health and dental rates will also be presented for approval and implementation on October 1, 2022.
During their first read items, the board will review policy and regulation updates, and consider three international trip proposals for 2023; 1) England, 2) Ireland, and 3) London/Paris/Madrid.
