MLWGS Regional School Board Meeting on Wednesday, September 18 @ 9:00 am

School Board Group 2024

The next meeting of the full Regional School Board of Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School will take place on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 9:00 am. The meeting will be held at the MLWGS campus in Room 153. Please note that this date is different from the board’s regular schedule due to a conflicting statewide meeting on September 19 requiring the majority of members’ attendance.

During the meeting, the board will be introduced to Dr. Douglas Lyle, the newly appointed Superintendent of Prince George Public Schools. They will also recognize the three Dragons selected as 2024-2025 ALL-Star Athletes by Sports Backers/RTD.

The agenda for the meeting includes reviewing current financial reports, personnel changes, and assessing the progress of the strategic plan. Additionally, the board will consider approving the fiscal years 2019 through 2021 audit reports, as well as multiple policy and regulation updates.

The board will also review a proposal for a new international student trip to France over spring break 2025, late policy updates from August 2024, and the possibility of using potential unused snow days. Discussions are expected to cover leadership changes in 2025 and the newly released VDOE cell-phone free education policy.

The September meeting packet can be viewed here.

Persons unable to attend in-person but wanting to address the Regional School Board during the public comment period are invited to use this form to submit their comments by 10:00 am, Tuesday, September 17, 2024, or email their remarks to the Board Clerk.
