Anthony Bastardi, ’26-City of Richmond, Cross Country
Anthony (’26-Richmond) entered his senior year having already established himself as one of the most accomplished runners in program history, but his early Cross Country season results are an indication that the best is certainly ahead of him. Anthony has been the boys’ top finisher in each of our competitions, including a top 10 finish at the Pole Green XC Invitational and his first career Cross Country Invitational win at the Patrick Henry Invitational. Anthony covered 5k in 15:47 en route to the win at PH, a time that has him ranked 7th in Group 3 and 2nd in Region B. At the time of writing, Anthony and his Green Dragon squad is gearing up for their biggest test of the season, The Virginia XC Showcase, a race where Anthony will see most of the state’s best runners and several national-caliber talents. Anthony’s sights are set squarely on the school’s Cross Country 5K record of 15:17, a regional XC title, and a top 5 finish at the Group 3 championships in November.
“Anthony is off to a great start this season with a personal best clocking on the hilly Pole Green Classic course and a runaway victory at the Patrick Henry Invitational,” said Coach Jim Holdren. “I predict his final year as a Green Dragon will be a record-breaking one.”
