We have moved from one amazing conclusion with the Fall Festival to the start of another exciting week at Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School, with Homecoming festivities now in full swing. School spirit has been shining brightly each day through our Powderpuff games, spirit competitions, and the energy surrounding our home field hockey game, lip sync competition, and pep rally.
This past week, our students also wrapped up the first nine weeks, took the PSAT, and enjoyed a fun and well-deserved Field Day. This weekend, we look forward to celebrating together at the Homecoming Dance. Here’s to a wonderful night under the stars for our students and chaperones who make it all possible.
On Monday, our building will be closed in observance of Diwali, the Festival of Lights. As we reflect on this time that celebrates hope, renewal, and the triumph of light over darkness, may we also hold close the memory of Mr. Todd Hampton.
Mr. Hampton was a light to me. He was someone who loved working with our students and being part of our Maggie Walker extended family. As a valued member of our American Sign Language interpretation team, he supported students with care, professionalism, and genuine compassion. His warmth, kindness, and commitment to others will continue to shine in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him.
Wishing everyone peace, reflection, and moments of joy in the week ahead.
Go Dragons.
