The Class of 2018: 180 Graduates. As a class, they have performed a total of 32,719 community service hours. This is an average of approximately 180 hours per student. One student had 574 hours of community service. As a class, they earned a minimum of $13,519,227 million in scholarship offers. The average Grade Point Average was a 3.98. The average SAT score was 1419 and ACT is 31. They are going to 75 different colleges, 107 are staying in-state, 69 are going out-of-state, and 8 students are planning to take a gap year. Of the 107 staying in-state, 83 are going to one of these four state schools: The University of Virginia, The College of William & Mary, Virginia Tech, and Virginia Commonwealth University. Eleven were National Merit Finalists and 49 more received Commendations in the National Merit Program. Four were offered National Merit Scholarships. Nine were Presidential Scholar candidates. One was a UVA Jefferson Scholar.

MW freshman wins a 2018 Strong Men & Women in Virginia History Essay Contest sponsored by the Library of Virginia and Dominion Energy.

MW sophomore selected as a semifinalist in the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage essay awards.
We the People team wins the Regional title in December 2017 and its 20th State title in January. The Walker team attended its 20th national competition in Washington, DC in April where the team finished in 5th place.
MW Math Modeling has (4) teams recognized as ‘finalist’ in the HiMCM Math Modeling Contest putting them in the top 8% of 938 teams competing worldwide giving us the best results in five years.
MW wins back-to-back SABR Analytics Competition.
MW team is runner-up at the Governor’s Challenge in Economics and Personal Finance.
Ten Dragons participated in the 50th US National High School (K12) Chess Championship in Columbus, OH. Five students who played in the U1200 section won 2nd place in the team standings. One student in the U1200 section won 2nd place in the individual standings.
The MW Debate team for wins the state debate championship held by the Virginia Catholic Forensics League (VCFL).
Academic Quiz Bowl, aka BoB Squad, wins State Title at VHSL State Championship, repeating title from 2017.

Model United Nations Club hosts Samantha Power, the former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, at GSMUN XXI, March 23-24, 2018.
Mech Tech Dragons host STEM Day for middle schoolers, 2-24-2018.
The Mech Tech Team 422 attended the World Championships where they became a Safety Award Finalist, also selected to an alliance for the first time and played in a playoff match for the first time. The team advanced to become a Carson Division finalist.

2018 Scholastic Art Awards: MLWGS has 80 total awards: 16 Gold Keys, 26 Silver Keys including 2 Portfolios, and 38 Honorable Mentions. One National Medalist.
2018 Scholastic Writing Awards: MLWGS has 21 total awards: 5 Gold Keys, 6 Silver Keys, and 10 Honorable Mentions. One National Medalist.
For the first time ever a Virginia student (MLWGS Senior) Earns 1st Chair Violin in the All-National Honor Ensemble Symphony Orchestra.

2017 Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams are VHSL State Champions for the fifth consecutive year with one individual State champion and five earning “All State” titles.

Maggie Walker 2A East Girls Indoor Track are 2A Conference, Regional and State Winners for the fifth consecutive year. One student won the title in the 1-mile and 2-mile race at State.
Two MW students win titles at 2A East Diving Regionals and States: 1st place and 2nd place for the fourth consecutive year.
MLWGS Swim Teams at Regionals and States: the Girls repeated their 1st place finish for the fourth consecutive year, while the Boys earned 2nd.
Wrestling 2x Individual State Champion with 2018 title plus (4) All-State Wrestlers.

MW runner takes first place in both the one-mile and two-mile events at spring VHSL spring championship.

Girls tennis repeats the 2A State title win. One senior graduates with the singles State title for four consecutive years, and along with another senior won the State doubles titles for three consecutive years.
