VA Assoc for the GiftedThe Virginia Association for the Gifted is proud to offer annual opportunities to award and recognize excellence through the following:  Virginia Association for the Gifted Outstanding Student Awards, Leader of the Year Award, Parent of the Year Award, Regional Teacher of the Year Awards, Teacher Innovative Grants, and Student Summer Scholarships.  

New this year: the Teacher Awards applications should be submitted online.  

Criteria

All nominees from the Commonwealth of Virginia must:

  • Submit verification of training in gifted education
  • Have taught gifted children/youth for at least three years

     

  • Be teaching gifted children/youth during the current school year (This may include general education
    classroom teachers, consultation/resource teachers, or teachers of gifted)

     

  • Exhibit outstanding qualities related to gifted education in the areas of teaching, curriculum development 
    and adaptation, working with gifted children/youth, working with parents/guardians of gifted children/youth, 
    and dealing with other staff and administrators

     

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to gifted education through professional experiences, professional organizations, and services in the area of education for the gifted 
  • Be a member of Virginia Association for the Gifted (nominees may renew or join at time)

The application packet must include the Division Nomination Form, with the Superintendent’s signature, the Candidate Nominee Form, completed and signed, the Nomination Statement, the Professional Experience and Educational Background Form, and a maximum of three (3) supporting documents (including letters of recommendation from colleagues, parents/guardians, or students).  

Applications must be uploaded on or before March 26, 2018.
