2015 – 2016 Scholastic Awards Summary: 2nd year for REGION AT LARGE, 71 Total Awards!

We are very excited to announce that our talented students in the fine arts were recently honored by having their work selected in this year’s Scholastic Art competition.   This is a highly competitive art show which was made more so by competing in the Southeast Region-at-Large.  Despite this, our students had another record setting year of awards, making us one of the most honored schools in the area and recognizing Maggie Walker as one of the region’s top schools for the Arts.    This success is due to our talented students, but also our excellent faculty, and the tremendous support we receive from the school administration and the Visual Arts Boosters.

18 Gold Keys awards including 2 Gold Key Portfolios (1 Gold Art Portfolio, 1 Gold Photography Portfolio, 12 Photo Gold Keys, 4 Art Gold Keys)

20 Silver Keys awards including 3 Silver Key Portfolios (2 Silver Photography Portfolios, 1 Silver Art Portfolio, 9 Art Silver Keys, 8 Photo Silver Keys)

33 Honorable Mentions including 5 HM Portfolios (4 HM Photo Portfolios, 1 HM Art Portfolio, 20 Photo HM, 8 Art HM)

Gold Key winners’ work will move on to the Alliance for Young Artist and Writers national adjudication process, where he/she will be eligible for further recognition and scholarship opportunities.  Adjudication of Gold Key works will take place in New York City and award winners will be announced in March.
