2023 MLWGS Yearbook Wins First Place from the American Scholastic Press Association

The 2023 Yearbook “Our Journey” has been awarded First Place among high schools with an enrolment of 500-1000 by the American Scholastic Press Association. Please join us in congratulating Editor-in-Chief Riley Surratt, Senior Section Editor Rachael Sharon-Gupta, and the entire 2023 Yearbook staff on this outstanding achievement. They deserve commendation, kudos, and plaudits for the hard work and dedication that they invested in the book. Yearbook sponsor Michael White expressed his pride, saying, “I’m very proud of this staff for their work.”

“Michael White spends countless hours leading and encouraging his staff to build this artifact for our students and school.  Each year, we are amazed and thankful that he takes on this daunting task and creates something amazing,” said Kerry Sheppard, English Department Chair.

The AMERICAN SCHOLASTIC PRESS ASSOCIATION announced the winners of its Annual Review and Contest Awards for scholastic yearbooks, magazines, and other publications. They applaud all members for their dedication and concern for the improvement of their publications.

The following is a list of the point score system. 

POINT SCORE SYSTEM
850 – 1000 ………………. FIRST PLACE
700 – 849 ………………. SECOND PLACE
500 – 699 ………………. THIRD PLACE
