#4 Sunday Snapshot: August 17, 2025

It is the weekend before the first day of school… and the excitement is real. I used to think that anticipation was something only students experienced. But over the years, I’ve learned it’s a feeling educators know well, too.

We’ve spent weeks in preparation: orientations, board meetings, professional development, and planning. By the time Friday arrives, we’re exhausted.  But, we are still buzzing with anticipation. We’ve been working toward this moment, eager for our classrooms and hallways to be filled with energy and learning.

On Monday morning, the doors will open, and we’ll greet our Dragons with smiles, warmth, and the promise of a new year. Our teams will be at the bus loops and stationed around campus to guide and support students, making sure every arrival feels welcome and every question finds an answer.

This year, we’ll continue to live the Walker Way. We will show courage when we face challenges, compassion in the way we care for one another, community in how we embrace and celebrate our differences, and collaboration as we work together toward common goals. These aren’t just ideals; they’re the everyday actions that define who we are.

Here’s to living the Walker Way. The 2025–2026 school year is here. Let’s make it a remarkable one. Go Dragons!

Warmly,

Kristin Janssen

AY27 Snapshot #2: Coming back to life

The mornings are getting darker, summer is winding down, and there is a different kind of energy around school. I guess I should be sad to see summer go, but that means the school year is right around the corner. And, of course, school supplies. I already have pastel pencils, felt-tip pens, binders, and more…
