Wow…today was one of those days that reminds us of what a privilege it is to serve such wonderful students in such an exemplary school community. One of the differences in this showcase (in my opinion) was the Zen design/quality of the presentations. In my experience, students have always looked great and possessed the necessary depth of knowledge, but the presentations this year were amazing. Additionally, while there has been a research focus/paper behind the presentations, this year there seemed to be a sharper focus on the questions and results of the research layered into the presentations. A huge thank you to Sharon Parker (and parent volunteer Jodie Kitchens) for her leadership coordinating the showcase (and all that it entails) as well as for working with our mentorship students throughout the year, to our seminar teachers for their work with students in areas of special/niche interests…one of the wonderful things about our staff is the broad range of expertise that they bring to the table in support of students…, to all of our mentors who opened the worlds of their professional practice to our students, to our faculty who moderated the presentations with professionalism, and to all of the parents who added a measure of gravity to the import of the day. As a fantastic audience, our underclassmen (and women) had the opportunity to project themselves to their senior year and to explore a variety of focus areas of potential interest. What an awesome team effort…MLWGS rocks!
