Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School Foundation is hosting the 7th Governor’s School Alumni Showcase on Friday, October 2, 2026.
More than 50 Governor’s School alumni will return to campus to share insights with current Dragons about all things “life after high school,” including their unique educational and professional choices, successes, struggles, and lessons learned along the way.
One of Maggie Walker’s most beloved traditions, Alumni Showcase, is a semi-annual event that started in 2012 and features alumni from the early days when the Governor’s School was located at Thomas Jefferson High School to some of our most recent graduates.
This year’s speakers include a Harvard professor, the new Virginia Deputy Attorney General for Commerce and Infrastructure, local non-profit leaders, a renewable energy expert, financial planner, cantor, arborist, Red Cross disaster relief specialist, tall ship worker, and filmmaker, as well as educators, engineers, doctors, nurses, political staffers, attorneys, scientists, members of the military, and other amazing alumni whose paths have often been very different than what they imagined in high school.
Alumni Showcase opens our Dragons’ minds to new possibilities for their futures. And our alumni cherish the chance to interact with current students and to catch up and share their experiences with one another during the Welcome Breakfast beforehand and the Thank You Lunch after the sessions wrap up, sponsored by TowneBank.
