Both the Walker Speech and Debate teams with big results from super-regionals and regionals

This weekend, our Speech & Debate Teams represented Maggie Walker at the Speech Super-Regionals and the Debate Regionals with Coaches Erin MacPherson & Celie Boswell.

Our Speech Team came in 2^nd at our Super-Regional Tournament. Students placing in the top 3 of their categories will represent us at the State Tournament on March 29^th! Students placing 4th in the category are alternates, should any of the top three competitors no longer be able to attend. 

• Vrinda Shah – 1^st place in Extemporaneous Speaking
• Emma Lindsey – 2^nd place in Impromptu Speaking
• Akash Arun Kumar Soumya – 4^th place in Original Oratory Speaking
• Henry Erda – 2^nd place in Original Oratory Speaking
• ShanShan Liu – 5^th place in Storytelling
• Lolu Nzombola – 1^st place in Humorous Dramatic Interpretation
• Jaymes Milston – 5^th place in Serious Dramatic Interpretation
• Anushri Ramesh – 6^th place in Serious Dramatic Interpretation
• Anoushka Anand – 6^th place in Poetry Interpretation
• The team of Sanika Kumar & Claire Adcock – 5th place in Serious Duo Dramatic Interpretation

Our Debate Team came in 2^nd at our Regional Tournament. We took 12 students to Debate Regionals and 9 of them are eligible to compete at Super-Regionals on April 5^th!

• Fotini Tzavellas & Lola Acquista – Advancing to Super-Regionals in Congressional Debate
• Alisha Kapila, Aishwarya Kapila, & Simran Govil – competed at Regionals in Congressional Debate
