The Virginia World War I and World War II Commemoration Commission, the Virginia War Memorial, and the Virginia Department of Veterans Service invite Virginia students to participate in an art contest commemorating the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day. The theme is a reflection on World War I, the Armistice, and the influence of the war in the century since November 11, 1918. Entries must be received by October 18, 2018, and should address the question: How has World War I shaped Virginia and our world 100 years later?
Finalists’ artwork will be displayed at the Carillon in Richmond during the Commonwealth’s Armistice Day Commemoration on November 11, 2018, and afterward, the artwork will be on display at the Virginia War Memorial. Students with winning artwork and their sponsoring teachers will receive an award. All students who enter artwork will receive an invitation to attend the Richmond Symphony’s Armistice commemorative concert.
