On November 16th, MLWGS’s Dr. Christine Anderson took students from her Gender, Politics & Consumerism in a Global Context VCU/Dual Enrollment class and other select students to a one-day conference at George Mason University. At the conference, hosted by the Women and Gender Studies Program at GMU, they brought together scholars, students (both graduate and undergraduate), policymakers, artists, and activists to wrestle with ideas and strategies to move forward toward a just world in theory and practice.  These students heard from keynote speaker Talitha LeFloria, the award-winning author of ‘Chained in Silence: Black Women and Convict Labor in the New South.’

Eleven of Dr. Anderson’s seniors presented their own research during this conference and are pictured in the first photo. Congratulations! The second photo is of the entire group that attended from MLWGS.
