Graduation Regalia

Happy New Year!  Each new year at Mil-wigs brings with it students and groups who accomplish amazing things.  It also brings anticipation for the graduation of another awesome class of students.  Indeed, graduation is an extremely important event as it is not only significant in itself but it also makes future great events possible.

In alignment with the vision of MLWGS graduates as “life-long learners who embrace the responsibility of citizenship, the value of ethical leadership, and the richness of diverse cultures,” school and teacher leaders collaborated to expand the guidelines pertaining to graduation regalia.  Our current practice (est. 2012) permits only the wearing of honor society cords.  With the class of 2016 and forward, cords, stoles, or other adornments recognized by MLWGS academic honor societies, and approved regalia reflecting significant school-related leadership, service, or academic competitive achievement in enduring MLWGS organizations will be permitted.  With this initiative we endeavor to bring our practice in line with our vision/mission as well as make an advance toward recognizing the depth and breadth of our students’ accomplishments.  A complete account/details pertaining to eligibility/vetting is forthcoming.

As a reminder for all students (and especially seniors), it is not to early to check your progress toward meeting your community service graduation requirement.  If you have community service related questions, a good place to look for an answer is on our webpage (https://mlwgs.com/academic-overview/community-service).

Onward toward another prosperous year!
