Congratulations to Devansh Kumar, Class of 2028 – Henrico, as the first recipient of the Green Dragon Award.

Devansh, accompanied by his parents, was recognized by the Regional School Board on Thursday, September 17, 2026, for his service to the school and its community. During the recognition, he received the first school board achievement of excellence pin and will receive a custom Maggie Walker jacket that is custom-designed.
The Green Dragon Award recognizes a student who demonstrates an outstanding commitment to service, honor, integrity, and character while making meaningful contributions to the MLWGS community.
Devansh exemplifies these qualities through his willingness to volunteer his time, talents, and expertise whenever there is an opportunity to support our school community. Through his exceptional video-making skills, Devansh has helped create engaging and informative videos for students, teachers, and the broader MLWGS community. From producing videos for our Regional School Board, our annual multicultural assembly, Model UN, the Converge summer gifted program, New Teacher Orientation, and the Honor Town Hall, Devansh consistently finds ways to illuminate the pillars of the Walker Way. In addition, last school year, he was recognized by C-SPAN for his short documentary on gerrymandering.
Devansh’s actions reflect the values we hope to cultivate in every MLWGS Dragon: service to others, pride in our community, integrity in our actions, and excellence in using our talents to make a positive impact.
As the inaugural recipient of the Green Dragon Award, Devansh Kumar sets a meaningful example of what it means to be a Dragon who serves, leads, and gives back.
Congratulations, Devansh, on this well-deserved recognition!
