Helpful graduation day reminders

The Class of 2024 is graduating TOMORROW!  I hope you’re as excited as we are to celebrate these amazing students!

Just a few reminders:

  1. Graduation practice starts at 3:00pm, but I am asking students to be at Altria Theater by 2:45pm.  We have to get everyone seated in order, and we have a very short window of time for rehearsal.  Students must bring their cap (with tassel), gown, and any cords with them when they arrive.
    1. NEW UPDATE:  Altria Theater has implemented a new security protocol – ALL STUDENTS will be required to pass through a metal detector and have any bags they bring in checked.  The theater has encouraged everyone NOT to bring any unnecessary items to speed up the process.
  2. Students must stay at the theater between graduation practice and the ceremony.  It will likely be a very short period of time.  We know that practice and the ceremony will roll into the dinner hour, so encourage your student to eat lunch and consider bringing a bottle of water and snack with them in case they get hungry.
  3. The outer doors to the theater will open for parents/family/friends at 5:00pm, and the inner doors to the seating area of the theater will open closer to 5:30pm.  If you or a family member requires accessible seating, please see an usher when you enter the theater.  There are accessible seats (with access by elevator) on multiple levels of the building.
  4. The ceremony starts at 6:00pm.
  5. Guests are welcome to bring flowers, but balloons or anything glass is not permitted.
  6. No weapons are allowed inside the building.
  7. DIRECTIONS TO PARKING AT ENTRANCE(S): https://drive.google.com/drive/home
  8. Parking is available at the Main Street Deck across the street from the theater.  The cost is $10/car.  Only debit or credit cards may be used for payment.
  9. Students will enter the theater from the side door next to the loading dock (off Main Street).
  10. Lifetouch will be taking photographs of the graduates receiving their diploma.  Guests are not allowed in the aisles.  If you would like to opt in to access the photos, you can text the code: PGNE59247 to this number:  90738
  11. The ceremony should wrap up around 7:30-8:00pm.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Kerry Sheppard, the graduation coordinator:  [email protected]
