Holiday Cards for United States Military Service Members

Each year thousands of United States Military personnel deploy to foreign soils, remote sites, on board ships, and to submarines all over the world. The holiday season is a perfect time for us to show these brave men and women how much we appreciate their service and how we are thinking of them while they are away protecting our freedoms.

For the last 16 years, Dr. Laura Landerman-Garber has been collecting holiday cards to send to American military personnel stationed overseas. Last year, the New Hampshire Department of Education (NHDE) joined that campaign and encouraged students to sign cards to send to our brave men and women in uniform. They collected more than 50,000 cards.

This year the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) is encouraging schools to join in this effort. Dr. Laura Landerman-Garber has set a deadline of October 31, 2019, to receive cards so that she has time to get the signed cards to Commands which will distribute them to our servicemen and women around the globe. For more information, including where to mail the collected cards and guidelines for writing the cards, please visit the Holiday Cards for our Military Challenge website

Additional, information on card signing can be found on the Holiday Cards for our Military Challenge website.
