Junior Lucy Gates has been named an ACTR Russian Scholar Laureate for 2024

Congratulations to Junior Lucy Gates (’25-Chesterfield), named an ACTR Russian Scholar Laureate for 2024.

Every year, the American Council of Teachers of Russian accepts nominations for the Russian Scholar Laureate Award. Of the thousands of high-school students taking Russian across the country, only a handful (about 30) earn this distinction annually.

“This is a big deal!” said teacher Michael White. “Lucy certainly deserved it. In two years of Russian study, Lucy has been a model of diligence and enthusiasm for the language and culture, blending innate linguistic talent with persistent hard work.”

Please join us in congratulating Lucy on this high honor.
