Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School Information Forum about Admission for the Class of 2029 will be held on October 26th

If your child is an academically oriented current 8th-grade student, then you should consider Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School as their next step.

The Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School for Government and International Studies (MLWGS) is an innovative public high school offering a comprehensive college preparatory program emphasizing government, international studies, science, mathematics, languages, and fine arts.  The school serves students selected based on aptitude and interest in its mission.

MLWGS will present an information forum for students and families interested in knowing more about the program and the admissions process on the school campus, on Saturday, October 26th.  There will be three 90-minute sessions divided by district.  The sessions are as follows: 8 AM–Hanover and Richmond,  10 AM–Colonial Heights, Dinwiddie, Henrico, Hopewell, King & Queen, Petersburg, and Prince George, and 1 PM–Charles City, Chesterfield, Goochland, New Kent, and Powhatan.

Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School is located in the heart of Richmond and offers exceptional educational opportunities and personalized learning. The school received a prestigious honor in 2023 by being named to the College Board’s Advanced Placement Honor Roll with Platinum Distinction School and renamed again in 2024.

With our last graduation, 176 members of the class of 2024 earned over $9.54 million in scholarship offers, had a 98% college acceptance rate, three students were selected as Presidential Scholar Candidates, sixteen students were National Merit Scholarship Finalists with six receiving the award, and the class earned an average GPA of 4.29.
