Congratulations Mr. Sam Ulmschneider and the MLWGS students of ‘We the People’ for your first place showing at the Central Virginia Regional competition held at the Cultural Arts Center in Glen Allen today. Onward to the State championship in late January.

We the People competition seeks to teach high school students the basic tenets of the U.S. Constitution and how they apply to the country’s democracy and the lives of its citizens.

The MLWGS team has been consistently successful having won the national championship last year along with two other national titles in the 30-year history of the competition.

The GS Foundation supported the MLWGS ‘We the People’ team efforts with a $20,000 enhancement grant last year for Nationals and also helped fundraise the remaining amount needed from parents and alumni.  Last year, nearly a hundred donors helped the team raise the money they needed to cover the costs leftover after the Foundation’s contribution.  We hope to see even more support this year for our amazing students!
