The Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School Executive Board meeting will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 9:00 am. Location: Room 153 (Adjunct Classroom). The Executive Board comprises members from Petersburg, Goochland, Powhatan, New Kent, Richmond, and Dr. Brian Nichols, representing the Superintendent’s Steering Committee.

In June, the executive board will review several consent items, which include the school’s monthly personnel and financial reports.
For their information, the board will be provided with year-end items that include the AY26 Field Trip Report, the AY26 Wellness Report, the AY26 Fundraising Report, and the AY27 MWGS Foundation Enhancement Report.
The board will be asked to approve the Fiscal Year 2026 Assignment of Reserve Funds, which is required by GASB 54 from the Governmental Accounting Standards Board. Additionally, the board will be advised about and asked to approve the renewal of school business insurance with VACorp for FY2027 and approve the MWGS Foundation slate of directors and officers for 2026-27.
During the review section of the agenda, the board will be asked to prepare for the approval of standard actions in August. These actions include the annual authorization of signatures for the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), certification of the 2026-2027 Crisis Manual, certification of the 2026-2027 Student Handbook, and the renewal of health and dental benefits with updated annual rates.
