MLWGS Regional School Board elects Heather Donbrosky as chair and Kathryn Ricard as vice-chair for 2026

During its meeting on January 16, 2025, the Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School Regional Board (RSB) elected Ms. Heather Donbrosky as chair for 2026. Donbrosky has been a member of the RSB since January 2024 and served our board as vice-chair in 2025. She represents the New Kent School Board.

“I am humbled, excited, and honored to serve as the Chair of Maggie L. Walker’s Regional School Board for 2026,” said Ms. Donbrosky. “The very first time I walked through the doors of Maggie Walker, I fell in love with its historical background, the atmosphere, and the incredible opportunities provided to each student. Over the past two years, I have truly enjoyed serving and learning on this board, while getting to know both those I work alongside—and a few of those we serve—a little better. I look forward to continuing this work, building on the school’s existing strengths, engaging as often as I can with your efforts, and supporting the success of this remarkable school community. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions, concerns, or ideas on how your Regional School Board can be of assistance.”

Kathryn Ricard, representing the Richmond School Board, was elected as board vice-chair.  “I am honored to serve as vice-chair and support Maggie L Walker Governor’s School and its continued goal of creating lifelong learners who care deeply for their local, national, and global communities by embracing diversity and fostering inclusion.”

In addition to the chair and vice-chair, the 2026 board will be comprised of the following members from their participating divisions: Marchelle Hampton-Charles City, Lisa Hudgins-Chesterfield, Debbie Walwer-Colonial Heights, Mary Benjamin-Dinwiddie, Meredith Moses-Goochland, Whitney Welsh-Hanover, Alicia Atkins-Henrico, Harwood Hall-King & Queen, Kenneth Pritchett-Petersburg, Jill Andrews- Prince George, and Kathryn Ricard-Richmond. Sadly, we await the assignment of a new board member from Hopewell after the unexpected loss of long-time board member Linda Hyslop.

The Executive Board members for 2026 include Donbrosky, Ricard, Taylor, Pritchett, and Moses.

The RSB also set its 2026 meeting schedule. Meetings will generally be held on the third Thursday of each month at 9:00 am, except for June, July, November, and December. The approved meeting dates can be viewed here.
