The Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School Regional Board meeting will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 9:00 am. Location: Room 153 (Adjunct Classroom).

The board will recognize the winners of the 2026 Scholastic Writing competition and the 2026 State Champions of the VHSL Scholastic Bowl. There will also be a special recognition honoring the contributions of our superintendents. Later in the meeting, board members will present certificates to this year’s National Merit Scholar Finalists, which include a total of seventeen students.
During the meeting, the board will be asked to approve the current operating financial statements and personnel actions. Additionally, other business matters will include the approval of the AY2027 student fees schedule and the FY2022 audit report, along with several amended and new policies.
The executive director will request approval for the AY2027 operating budget in this meeting. Mrs. Janssen will be asking for an additional $697,283 in spending to cover teacher pay raises, expansion of the 1-1 laptop initiative, and facility maintenance. The regular business agenda will include an update from the Executive Director, initial readings on the annual authorization that allows the Executive Director to issue personnel contracts for the upcoming fiscal year 2026-2027, proposals for textbook adoption, and a vendor review of a Request for Proposal (RFP) for photography services 2026-2027.
