School Board 2025

The Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School Regional Board meeting will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at 9:00 am.  Location: Room 153 (Adjunct Classroom)

We welcome Kathryn Ricard to the Regional School Board from Richmond Public Schools in January.

The board will elect RSB officers for 2025, approve its code of conduct, the schedule of its meetings, authorize multiple committee memberships, and will be asked to approve current operating financial statements and personnel action. New course proposals for 2024-2025 are also on the agenda for approval.

The first-read item is an update to existing policies.

During the director’s report, the board will be presented with the VDOE full site evaluation of MLWGS that was conducted in October 2024. A presentation by David Bortz is also scheduled for a one-to-one laptop initiative as requested by the board.

After its regular meeting business, the board will be presented with preliminary information by assistant director, Dr. Max Smith, related to the school’s FY26 operating budget during a scheduled budget work session.

The January meeting packet can be viewed here.

Persons unable to attend in-person but wanting to address the Regional School Board during the public comment period are invited to use this form to submit their comments by 10:00 am, Wednesday, January 15, 2025, or email their remarks to the Board Clerk.
