MLWGS Regional School Board Meeting on Thursday, January 18, 2024 @ 9:00 am

The Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School Regional Board meeting will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 9:00 am.  Location: Room 153 (Adjunct Classroom)

In January we welcome eight new members to the Regional School Board with new representatives from Charles City, Chesterfield, Dinwiddie, Goochland, Henrico, New Kent, Powhatan, and Prince George.

The board will elect RSB officers for 2024, approve its schedule of meetings, authorize multiple committee memberships, and will be asked to approve current operating financial statements. Two travel proposals are submitted this month requesting approval for student travel and study in 2024.

Amended policy is submitted as first read for Reg. 7003.1-Annual Budget Calendar and Guidelines requesting to move the calendar of budget approval activities forward one month each calendar year.

After its regular meeting business, the board will be presented with preliminary information by the school director, Dr. Robert Lowerre, related to the school’s FY25 operating budget during a scheduled budget work session.

The January meeting packet can be viewed here.

Persons unable to attend in-person but wanting to address the Regional School Board during the public comment period are invited to use this form to submit their comments by 10:00 am, Wednesday, January 17, 2024, or email their remarks to the Board Clerk.
