MLWGS Scholar-Athlete of the Week, February 17, 2025 – Boys’ Swim

Scholar Athlete Feb 17

@patientfirst

Cal Vellozzi is a freshman on the Maggie Walker Swim and Dive team and is already one of our top all-around swimmers, with a specialty in backstroke.  Cal is one of our State qualifiers with a time of 55.63 in the 100 Backstroke.  “At practice and meets, you can see Cal giving his best effort, and putting into practice what the coaching provided to him,” said coach Heather Kemmerly.

When Cal is not swimming for MW, he also swims for SwimRVA’s Pre-Senior group and plays travel soccer with Grove.  Cal also consistently has high marks in all his courses.  Cal is an exceptional athlete and student.  We are looking forward to States and the next three years with Cal.
