Boys Cross-Country – Ashton Kochel, ’27 – Richmond
Ashton has been one of the top distance runners in the Richmond Metro area, and in all of VHSL Class 3 since his sophomore year. Now, as a senior, Ashton is looking to close out his final Green Dragon Cross Country season at a higher level than ever before.
Last Tuesday, Ashton recorded his highest career finish at the Region B Cross Country championships, earning his 3rd XC All-Region award and qualifying for the Class 3 Cross Country State Championship Meet on November 7th. Ashton will be chasing his first All-State award on the grass, after earning two individual top 3 state meet finishes on the track in his Junior year. He set his goals incredibly high for his senior year, but he has held himself to that standard every single day.
“To put it simply, Ashton is the role model that role models should follow,” said head coach Ryan Webb. “He is the driving force on our team and has been for quite some time. He is a leader day in and day out both on and off the track. His commitment is unparalleled, and it has been an honor to have been a part of his journey over the last 4 years. I can’t wait to see how the rest of his senior year plays out and the great things he will go on to do at the next level.”
