Girls Cross-Country – Cora Bryant, ’27 – Richmond
After a junior year in which Cora emerged as one of the best middle-distance runners in Group 3, she has carried that momentum into her senior year, producing the best cross-country season of her career. She has posted two top-10 individual finishes and the 3rd-fastest RVA Relays split ever by a Maggie Walker athlete. She heads into the last month of her cross country season ranked 3rd in Region B and 14th in Group 3. Beyond her individual goals, Cora was elected as one of the team’s captains and has led her team, both in and out of competition, at a level beyond comparison. Though the team is small, she has worked tirelessly to keep her Lady Green Dragon teammates happy, healthy, and focused on the things they can control.
Head Coach Webb says, “The growth I’ve seen in Cora, just in the last year, is the type of thing that keeps a coach in the coaching profession. Cora’s road to this point hasn’t been the storybook that you’d expect. It hasn’t always been easy; it certainly hasn’t always been fun, but all of that fire that she had to walk through has forged her into one of the most impressive leaders and one of the most impressive young women that I’ve had the privilege to coach. I have always told her that she will be as good as she wants to be in running, and I truly believe the best is still yet to come.”
