MLWGS Scholar-Athlete of the Week, October 7, 2024 (wk #4), Skye Cummings – Field Hockey

Scholar Athlete Oct 7

@patientfirst

Skye is the youngest of three sisters to play field hockey for MLWGS.  Skye started playing as a ninth grader in junior varsity and is now a starting right back.  “She is one of the hardest-working defensive players to come through the program,” said Coach Paige Hawkins.

When the coaching staff discussed who should be their athlete of the week, all three (Hawkins, Gina Adler, and Amy Page) said her name simultaneously. Skye is the player who arrives early and leaves last because she helps to clean up even when it’s not her day. Skye is a loyal teammate who is always focused on improving and honing her skills. She analyzes her game performance and takes intentional steps to “show up” for every competition ready to go. This season, she has compiled 3 defensive saves.
