MLWGS team competes in state economics competition

Maggie Walker Governor’s School has qualified for the championship rounds in Advanced Economics, Adam Smith Division, of the statewide Governor’s Challenge in Economics and Personal Finance to be held Thursday, April 14th at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Of the more than 3,350 students who participated in the online portion of the competition, 176 qualified for the state championship. Team members include Nathan Berry, Elijah Trexler, Derrick Wang and Parth Kotak.

State qualifying students earned their invitation to the championship round following an online competition conducted by the Virginia Council on Economic Education (VCEE), a public-private partnership focused on enhancing economics and financial education in grades K-12.

State champions win an all-expense-paid trip to nationals in New York City later this spring.

Good luck Dragons!
