MLWGS Track teams compete at Group 3-B Regionals on Thursday

On Thursday, May 26th our boys and girls track & field teams will be competing in the Group 3 Region B Championship meet at Caroline High School.

First and foremost, thank you to those teachers that have already made adjustments as our freshmen have rescheduled their math SOL tests to be able to participate in this meet. We traditionally have strong freshmen athletes, but the class of 2025 has already shown they will be one for the history books.  As has become the norm, Maggie Walker will be well represented at the regional meet. The girls look to extend their regional winning streak to a full 9 years, and the boys will be in contention to reclaim the outdoor regional title for the first time since 2019. Yes, you read that correctly, since the 2013-14 school year the only time the girls haven’t won a regional team title was in Cross Country, Indoor Track & Field, and Outdoor Track & Field in 2020 when there was no outdoor track season, and thus no regional title to win. For further perspective, 2013-14 is the school year our current freshmen started kindergarten! Eventually, all streaks come to an end, but we don’t intend for ours to end now.

Track teams are coached by Jim Holdren-HOF, Deborah Snagg, Ryan Webb, Bob Disse, and John Cerminara.

Good luck, Dragons!!
