MW Debate team wins 2021 State Championship

Congratulations to the Maggie L. Walker Debate and Forensics teams for their performance last weekend at the Virginia Catholic Forensic League State Championship. The debate team won the state championship with the following individuals placing in the tournament. In Public Forum Debate: 1st Place: Ethan Ringer and John Staley, 3rd Place: Vena Flournoy and Jamilah Ganyuma, and 4th Place: Anna Murray and Layne Hopkins. In Lincoln-Douglas Debate 2nd Place: Varun Mandgi, 3rd Place: Senthil Meyyappan, 4th Place Annabel Tang. In Student Congress Debate: 2nd Place: Tejas Muthusamy, 5th Place Amanda Perez.

In Forensics Pooja Muthuraj finished in 1st Place and Ethan Helms finished in 3rd Place. All of these students have qualified to compete at the National Championships to be held over Memorial Day Weekend.

Debate and Forensics teams are sponsored by Mr. Dan Brown, Social Studies Faculty.
