MW students qualify for All-Virginia Band auditions

District Band Ensemble 2019

Between Thursday and Saturday, Maggie Walker students Ryan Eklund (’22, Richmond City), Grace May (’20, Hanover), Rahul Ramesh (’21, Henrico), and Kevin Ren (’20, Chesterfield) participated in District Band at Deep Run High School. Rahul, Kevin, and Ryan performed with the symphonic band under the baton of Dr. Terry Austin, Director of Bands at VCU. Grace performed with the concert band, directed by the former director of Bluestone High School Ricky Allgood. Kevin and Rahul placed first-chair in their ensemble, and are eligible for All-Virginia Band auditions later this month. Congratulations to these student musicians for their accomplishments!
