As most Dragons are starting to enjoying their summer break, five of their classmates were recommended for participation in a month-long extensive educational opportunity sponsored by the Virginia Department of Education and Gifted Services. The Summer Residential Governor’s School programs provide rising gifted high school juniors and seniors with an intensive experience.

Our students applied for and were invited to the following academies: French, German, and Spanish at Washington and Lee University, and Japanese at Randolph-Macon College.  One student was invited to the Visual and Performing Arts Academy at Radford University. Students will live on campus this summer for up to four weeks where they will participate in classroom and laboratory work, field study, research, and individual and group projects and performances, seminars with noted scholars, and visiting artists and other professionals.

We hope our Dragons have an outstanding experience at their chosen academy.

Student applications to this program are managed by Joy Davis, Counselor.
