No Smoking Assemblies at MLWGS, sponsored by the SCA

Next week, Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School will host two brief student wellness assemblies titled “Tame the Flame.” These assemblies are organized by the Student Council Association (SCA) to promote healthy decision-making and student well-being.

The program will take place during the lunch block in the auditorium and will last approximately 15 minutes. Teachers will escort students to the auditorium at the beginning of lunch.

During the assembly, students will hear short perspectives from our school nurse and members of the administration, as well as brief online testimonials focused on wellness, stress management, and making informed health choices. The goal of the program is to support students in maintaining healthy habits and to provide practical information in a positive, student-centered way.

Schedule

  • Tuesday, March 17: Freshmen and Sophomores (popsicles provided)
  • Wednesday, March 18: Juniors and Seniors (pizza provided)

We appreciate the SCA’s leadership in organizing this event and helping promote a healthy school community.
