We are pleased to report that the regional tournament held last Wednesday evening at Maggie Walker was a great success! We worked through an 8-team round-robin tournament in about five hours. Our students, joined by a few VCU folks, volunteered to staff the tournament and did an excellent job. Visiting schools were complimentary and impressed!
At the end of the night, Maggie Walker went undefeated 7-0 and won the tournament! As the top team in our region, we will be headed to the States in Williamsburg to compete against the other three region champs on February 28.
Lets congratulate our regional A team: Rohan Neelakantan (’27-Henrico), Bladen Kidd (’27-Richmond), David Lins (’26-Chesterfield), Bridget Finley (’27-Henrico), Jaanvi Kanda (’28-Henrico), and David Chen (’28-Henrico).
Thanks to Paige Hawkins and Juanita Lasswell for running the tournament, Sonny Banes, Bradley Jenkins and Tomas for facilities support, Kim Forquer for stepping in as a quizmaster, and the denizens of the lower 100 rooms for accommodating us. And thanks to you all for your support!
