Into the Breach: Kerry Sheppard wanted to highlight Lindsey Lecroy, this month.  This is because Lindsey has repeatedly stepped up for her department since the beginning of the school year.  She covered extra classes when a colleague had to leave suddenly.  She helps other teachers with resources, mentoring, and materials.  Lindsey is also a strong contributor to the 10th grade World Literature team, despite having come to us only 2 years ago.  In Kerry’s words, “Lindsey makes the English Department stronger; we’re so lucky to have her on our team.”  Thank you, Lindsey!

This Old School: Labor Day started the hottest week of the year in Richmond.  Temperatures rose to the high nineties on September 5, 6, and 7.  As 3 Roof Top Units (RTU) lost fan motors trying to catch up, the other 10 began to strain to compensate.  By Wednesday, 3 additional units shutdown to avoid overheating.  Repairs finished on Thursday and we thought we had rounded the corner just in time for Back to School Night.  But then a severe electrical storm interrupted the electricity to the building during BTS night and lasted into the early AM.  Temperatures were more normal by September 8th and by the 11th some rooms of the building were (are) positively frigid (see Maddie Paturel in her sloth hooded blanket & the barrel fire in Room 236).  We continue to get creative with the building’s heating/cooling.  Thank you for your perseverance, tenacity, determination, and patience.  We overcame some big challenges!
