Strong Academic Performance in School Year 2014-2015

Before we begin the next awesome school year at Mil-wigs, we thought it appropriate to glance briefly in the rear view mirror.  Now that all of the scores are in from school year 2014-2015, we are proud to report that (as expected) our students produced a strong academic performance in school year 2014-2015.  As also expected, this was accomplished at a time when our student body is larger and more diverse than at any other time in our history.

  1. AP Assessment:  more students tested than ever before…matched second highest overall mean score in school history (4.3).
    1. Highest or matched highest scores ever in European History, German Language, Human Geography, Macro and Micro Economics, Psychology, and Spanish Language.
    2. Scores of 3 or higher remain above 98%.
    3. Percent of students who earned status as AP Scholars matched the highest level in school history.
  2. SOL Assessment:
    1. Mean advanced pass percentage reached highest level ever.
  3. National Merit
    1. Commendations match the second highest in school history.
    2. Semi-Finalists are the second highest in school history.
    3. Finalists are the second highest in school history.
    4. Percent of students who earned status as National Merit Scholar reached the highest level in school history.
  4. Scholarship Dollars reached an all-time high at 18.9 million for a class size of 174 (2015).

We will build on these results in the coming years by focusing on the goals in our approved strategic plan.

  1. Students will attend a diverse high school that is representative of the gifted populations in the participating school divisions.
  2. Students will be provided with expanded opportunities to participate in university-level coursework for MLWGS credit.
  3. Student will be provided with expanded opportunities to participate in rigorous courses that are created by faculty.
  4. Students will consistently be provided with learning opportunities that integrate meaningful instructional technology across disciplines.
  5. Student will be provided expanded opportunities to participate in enriched experiential learning.
  6. Students will learn from the best possible faculty and staff.
  7. Students will learn in a safe, well-maintained, state-of-the-art facility.

Looking forward to another awesome year!
