Student Email Migration

Mail Migration

A transition process began today to move student email accounts to a new server.  Ms. Snagg, who manages our school technology, is completing this transition.  If students are unable to access Maggie Walker email through the current system, this means that their accounts are being migrated.  As each grade level is transitioned, there may be approximately two days when those students’ Maggie Walker email is unavailable.  This migration does not effect GoogleDocs, itsLearning, or students’ overall network access.

Approximate migration dates are as follows:

  • Senior email migration: 9/16
  • Junior email migration: 9/17-18
  • Sophomore email migration: 9/18-21
  • Freshmen email migration: 9/21-22

After a student’s email account has been moved to the new server, they will go to a different web site to log in to their  Maggie Walker email account with their current Maggie Walker email address and password.  Instructions will be available on the Student Information course in itsLearning and in various locations throughout the school building, including the library, student copier room, and computer labs.

The exciting news about this change is that once students log in to their Maggie Walker email through this new site,  they will also have access to a suite of Office 365 Online applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote.

In addition, our new school license with Microsoft includes the opportunity for each student to install Office 2013 programs on a home computer.  These instructions will be available in itsLearning as well.

If students need assistance, they should see Ms. Snagg.
