Thank you to the faculty and students for our successful International Language Fair at MLWGS

Maggie Walker Bust

The Middle School Language Fair was held last Saturday, and– Wow! We had our biggest turnout ever, a huge assortment of engaging language/culture-based sessions, fun goodie bags for the participants, impressive dance performances, and a filling lunch. Congratulations to Milind Murthy, Sonia Chornodolsky, Shabaz Wali, Benny Lefkowitz, and each member of the student Executive Committee, who worked very hard for months to plan, coordinate, and carry out this event. Our conscientious student volunteers cooperated to avert or solve what few problems popped up.

Many, many thanks to all of the faculty/staff and student volunteers for their time and effort in the classrooms, the Auditorium, the hallways, and the lunchroom. Thank you to Yoko Eshita, Sharon Meng, Carlisa Gunter, Ruth Bradner, Amanda Lemco, Alecia Nichols, Kristen Macklin, and Rana Khashroom for their invaluable roles yesterday. And thanks for the facilities, security and tech staff for keeping everything safe, orderly, well-equipped, and running smoothly. And thank you to Devon Mattys and our friends working on the Winter musical for flexibly accommodating our use of the Auditorium. I offer my sincere apologies to anyone whose name I’ve omitted here.

Really, though, I think my colleagues would agree that it was the students who made this thing happen. Fortunately, the Executive Committee has been very intentional about recruiting younger students to serve with them, so we can feel confident that the Fair will enjoy experienced leadership for years to come.
