The MLWGS Counseling Department is excited to host a regional program presented by Tufts University in Boston on what selective colleges are looking for in potential candidates. Their “Who Gets in and Why” presentation will take students and parents behind the scenes, looking at sample applications, answering questions, and more. While offerings at Tufts will be addressed, the program will also be helpful for students who are looking at all types of selective liberal arts colleges. Please read the description below and register online in advance if you are interested. The program is October 15th at 7:00pm in the MLWGS auditorium. It is open to the public and we are honored that Tufts selected our school as the host location.
From Tufts University:
We are traveling to your city to present an interactive workshop, Who Gets In and Why. We’re hoping you’ll encourage your students to attend to learn about Tufts and highly selective admissions.
The program will highlight the following:
- Academics and campus life at Tufts University
- The different components of a college application and how those materials are evaluated by selective admissions offices
- Tips on successful essay writing and the impact of an application supplement
- The role of recommendations and interviews in the process
- A case study designed to resemble the admissions process, featuring five real applications from prior Tufts applicants
